Privacy Policy Netmo 2

Last updated: October 10, 2026

This policy applies to the macOS app Netmo 2.

1. Controller

Email: info@agross.at

2. No data collection by the developer

Netmo 2 does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to the developer. There is no Netmo user account, no analytics or tracking, no advertising, and I do not share any data with third parties.

3. Signing in to Netatmo

Netmo 2 is an unofficial app for viewing data from your Netatmo weather stations and air quality monitors. To do so, you sign in with your Netatmo account using Netatmo’s official sign-in flow (OAuth). Your Netatmo password is not stored in the app.

The app communicates directly with Netatmo’s servers (Netatmo SAS, France) to retrieve your station data. No data passes through or is stored on servers operated by the developer. Netatmo’s own privacy policy applies to data processed by Netatmo.

4. Local storage and iCloud sync

Locally on your Mac

  • cached measurement and station data (in memory only or, for the widgets, in a local app group container)
  • your settings (e.g. menu bar values, names and order of stations and modules)

Widgets access the app’s data locally. Notifications are generated locally on your Mac. When you export a CSV file, you choose where it is saved.

Sync via iCloud

If an iCloud account is active on your Mac, Netmo 2 uses Apple’s iCloud key-value store so that you stay signed in on multiple Macs with the same Apple ID. The following data is stored in your iCloud account and transferred to your other devices:

  • access data for Netatmo: refresh token, access token, token expiry time, time of the last synchronization and the sign-in status
  • your settings (you can turn this off with the iCloud sync switch in the app’s settings)

The access data is stored when you sign in and after every token renewal. This is necessary because Netatmo issues a new token with each renewal and all devices need the same current token. Your Netatmo password is not included. The measurement and station data themselves are not synchronized via iCloud.

If no iCloud account is active, the access data and settings are stored only locally on this Mac.

The iCloud data is processed by Apple and cannot be viewed by me. Apple’s privacy policy applies.

Deletion

When you sign out in the app, the access data is deleted locally and in iCloud. You can keep your settings or delete them as well. Resetting all settings (launching the app while holding the Shift key) also deletes the access data and settings locally and in iCloud. You can also revoke the connection to Netatmo at any time in your Netatmo account.

5. Distribution via the App Store

The app is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple is responsible for data it processes in that context (e.g. purchases, downloads, crash reports if you choose to share them with Apple). I have no access to this data apart from aggregated statistics provided in App Store Connect.

6. Contact

If you contact me, I process your details to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The data is not shared and is deleted once your request is resolved, unless legal retention obligations apply.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Please contact me at the email address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority:
Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at

8. Changes

I will update this policy if the app or legal requirements change. The current version is always available on this page.
